22nd ANNUAL GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAIN TROUT FESTIVAL

Saturday May 7, 2011 (9am-5pm) - The Great Smoky Mountain Trout & Heritage Festival is an outdoor event that introduces lessons in aquatic ecology, fishing ethics, water safety and the respect for outdoors as well as helps educate event goers about the various needs to conserve and protect our natural resources. It also includes sustainable living, timber, quilting and basket weaving demonstrations, live music and much more! Children 15 and under are free.

This year we are expanding the trout festival striving to add a heritage component. Additionally, our partner and sponsor Haywood Community College has an expanded presence with the Forestry Club adding ESPN Winning Timber Demonstrations and the Sustainability Club’s involvement. We have just added Balsam Mountain Birds of Prey demonstration featuring a live Bald Eagle.
